Flourgirls is a family business. We publish children’s illustrated books that we hope will inspire imaginations and create an interest in nature, folklore, the environment and the magic of the world we live in.
Everything started with a doll. Davorka, our illustrator and doll maker, made her first doll at the kitchen table here in Co Dublin. This first doll grew into a collection of six and they became a popular gift sold at craft fairs and farmers markets around Ireland.
But more popular than the dolls themselves were the stories she wrapped around them. Inspired by our seaside town, she created characters and personalities for each of the dolls she made and these became known as the Flourgirls.

She wrote and illustrated her first book, Róisín and the Magical Story of How the first Flourgirl was Made, and was delighted to see how many people enjoyed it. So, she printed it and the seed for the series began.
Now her family are all involved in some way, helping write, edit and market this beautiful and growing series of children’s books. We hope you enjoy them as much as we do. It’s still a kitchen table enterprise and she still makes dolls on request. We believe in making things by hand and crafting stories worth telling.
