    Measurement Guide: Just for you:
    A. From corner of mouth, over poll, to other corner of mouth.
    B. Length around nose, taken about two fingers width below the prominent cheek bone.
    C. Length of girth.
Harness will fit if the girth and bridle measurements match.
Measuring for a harness is easy and the correct fit is essential. See the following key and illustration below.
Many trainers prefer harnesses with full collars, or hames collars, over breast collar harnesses. Collars allow the horse to support his load with his whole body while keeping his shoulders free. Unfortunately, full collars are difficult to fit, and the fit must be precise to avoid injury to the horse. If the collar is too wide, the pressure will be uneven, resulting in a rocking motion and causing sores on the shoulder. Too narrow can constrict circulation, causing muscle cramps, pain and stress. Too short a collar puts pressure on the horse's windpipe, while too long will cause sores on the point of his shoulder and the collar to rise up. Proper measurements only require a few steps.
To measure the neck, I typically recommend using a pliable wire to measure that part of the neck where the collar will sit. Once that figure is derived, use the long diameter distance to figure out the length for the collar. That is the inside measurement of the collar.
If you have a collar that fits your horse, measure it as shown on drawing of collar. Inside measurement only is needed.
