Description
This thin-wall, high sustain guitar slide has a lower mass than typical glass, but is stronger and more resilient, because of the addition of boric oxide. The introduction of this low mass element creates a harder surface that produces greater sustain and a slightly different tonal palette than normal glass. The B2O3 Borosilicate Glass Guitar Slide has similar dimensions to Duane Allman’s Coricidin bottle and all of the smooth playing action of a traditional glass slide. The original Coricidin bottle had a 3/4” diameter opening—this slide is slightly smaller at 5/8”. I wear a US size 10 wedding band and this bottle sits just above the second knuckle on my ring finger. Plus, the suction created by the snug fit keeps this slide on my finger until I pull it off.
Dimensions:
Length - 2.36” (60mm)
Outside Diameter - 1.18” (30mm)
Mouth, Inside Diameter: 5/8” (15.875mm)
(US Ring Size - 5)
The best slide collection is one that offers many options in the way of tone, weight, length, sustain and material. Different compositions of similar materials—copper, brass and bronze; soda-lime glass, borosilicate glass, and lead glass—each adds new flavor to your tonal arsenal.
A guitarist need not have one perfect, catch-all slide, but rather many options that can satisfy specific occasions with regard to instrument, sound, style of music, or artistic preference. The B2O3 is the perfect addition to your slide collection and could add those elements that may be missing from your overall tone.
Each slide is packaged in Fenton, Missouri.
